AIA New Mexico presents its second annual Grassroots Conference. Continuing on the foundation started last year, AIA New Mexico is offering this conference and panel discussion to address its top issue – ADVOCACY. Learn how important your voice as an architect is in making change happen. Learn how to advocate for your community, your profession, and our shared surroundings.

Join us for presentations and a roundtable discussion from three different vantage points on how architects can be effective advocates and why it matters.

  • J.D. Bullington, AIA New Mexico Lobbyist, will discuss the current state of New Mexico in the upcoming 30-day session, the continued impact of the national election on state politics, as well as key advocacy issues facing architects in New Mexico;
  • Senator Peter Wirth (D-NM25)*, will discuss past and proposed bills that impact our industry, including those that relate to our growing public infrastructure issue. He will also discus the most effective way to interact an have success with NM legislators;
  • Fred Nathan, Jr., Think New Mexico, will discuss how legislative initiatives can be developed, supported and ultimately be successful. He will also discuss what it really takes to get legislation through the system.

All speakers will be live at the Albuquerque location. Q&A participation via webinar will be available at the two remote locations of Santa Fe and Las Cruces. Make sure to tell us at which location you’ll be attending.
